NISSAN RADIO MAP CARD – why its required?

Many of my customer frequently asked me
Why we need map card ?
Japanese car navigation systems, such as the MM320 series, require an SD card because it functions as the primary storage device for the system’s core software and map data.
Because these units are typically integrated deeply into the vehicle’s electronics, the SD card is essential for several reasons:
Security/Locking: Many units “marry” or lock to a specific SD card. This acts as a security measure to prevent the unauthorized use or copying of the software, which is why simply inserting a standard, blank SD card into the slot often does not work.
System Operation: Unlike many modern consumer devices that have large internal storage, many Japanese head units are designed to load their operating software and navigation data directly from the SD card. Without the correct, unit-specific SD card, the system may fail to boot, remain locked, or be unable to access navigation features.
Map Data Storage: The SD card contains the map database required for GPS navigation. These cards often include specialized software that allows the head unit to read the map files and provide routing, points of interest, and traffic information without requiring an internet connection.
Regional Locks: Japanese head units are often region-specific. The software on the head unit and the data on the SD card must match, meaning you cannot typically use a generic SD card or one from a different region to run the navigation system.
This kind of designated SD card is needed to Fix radio to enjoy music bluetooth fm etc.
